Who is God?

God — also known as Yahweh and The Holy One of Israel — is the Creator of our beautiful universe. He is also its Sovereign Ruler.

God has been around forever — way before Adam and Eve were born. Way before the earth was formed. He's seen a lot and knows far more than we could ever imagine. In fact, he knows everything — which means we can ask him anything!!!

One of the things that sets God apart from other gods is that he exists in three persons. The Trinity is a bit mind boggling. So don't worry if you can't grasp it. The three persons are God the Father. God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They are equal in power, unified in purpose and always present.

What is God really like?

God the Father truly is kind, generous and loving. But he is also just and righteous. Because He is perfect in everyway, it's impossible for us to even imagine. But one thing you can count on — God never lies and He willl always keep his promises forever.

God is also personal — her personally cares about you and your life. When we believe in Jesus, He adopts us as sons and daughters, forgives every sin we will ever commit, and pours unconditional love on us. He's actually invites us to call him Daddy — or Abba in Hebriew. How cool is that?

Like any father though, He occasionally must discipline us. But, rest assured —God always disciplines with love, grace and mercy.

Who is Jesus? A good teacher? Or the Son of God?

Jesus is not only a great teacher, He's also the Son of God. The anticipated Messiah. The Savior of the world. And our personal friend. Jesus loves you! His grace and mercy is free to you — if you want it.

As Christians, we believe that Jesus is fully human and fully God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Unlike you and I, Jesus lived his life perfectly. That doesn't mean that Jesus never got angry or never hurt. It means that he never hurt others or disobeyed God when life was unkind to him.

Is Jesus a good teacher or the Son of God?

Jesus is definitely a great teacher. Few would argue that. We can learn so much from what he taught and how he treated people. But that's not all.

Jesus really is the Son of God. He was conceived by the Spirit and born of a Virgin. He is the Messiah. The Savior of our world. And He fulfilled hundreds of Jewish prophecies.

Throughout his life, Jesus loved God so much that He obeyed all of His rules. Every single day! An impossible feat for us. And because He was without sin, He became the perfect sacrifice for all sin, for all time. When Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, He demonstrated power over sin and death and he made it possible for us to spend eternity with God.

Does Jesus really love me? I've made mistakes.

We all mess up. So it's easy to believe that Jesus wouldn't love us. But that's what makes Jesus so cool. He really wants us to be his friend and part of His family — a family that will never let us go.

Jesus knows what it's like to be us. He laughed. He cried. He celebrated. He even got angry. He felt pain and grief. His was betrayed by a friend. And killed by the people he came to save. Jesus was rejected for who He is.

You could say Jesus was, and still is, cancelled.

But Jesus turned ancient cancel culture into victory. He died on a cross for every single one of us. He made a way for us to be friends today. Jesus is the originator of the no-matter-what kind of love.

Who is the Holy Ghost? And what does it do?

The Holy Ghost — or the Holy Spirit — is not an "it". The Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He breathes life, wisdom and counsel into everything and every person He encounters.

The Holy Spirt does whatever God the Father tells him to do. He empowers people with supernatural gifts, reminds them of God's teaching, and convicts them of sin.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Spirit becomes our personal Advocate and Helper — reminding us to make right choices.

Does the Holy Ghost haunt people?

Such a great question! The Holy Ghost is not a "ghost" link you'd see in a big screen thriller. He definitely doesn't hang around our house rattling chains and slamming doors.

The Spirit has a more important purpose. He helps people become aware of their need for Jesus — because God wants everyone to live in Heaven.

The Spirit also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides them with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and smart counsel to do the right thing.

Who wrote the Bible and what does it contain

The Bible — God's Word for all people — was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible is ultimately a love story. A story that tells how much God loves and treasures us. The Bible is filled with epic stories, haunting loss, harrowing battles, supernatural feats, incredible personal sacrifice, timeless wisdom and prophetic promises. It supernaturally influences our hearts and reshapes our life. When we practically apply the teachings of the Bible to our lives, we discover joy, hope and peace. We act with love, kindness, forgiveness, generosity, mercy and justice.

Can the Bible be trusted? After all, it's ancient.

This is an important question. You can't really trust  the Good News of Jesus if it's fake news, right?

To answer this question, we have to go to the source: Jesus himself.

The book of John tells us that the Bible is God's word. And then later in the book, Jesus tells us — in his own words — that God's word (the Bible) is truth. Since we already established that Jesus is perfect, it means he can't and won't lie. So it stands to reason that if Jesus said the Bible is true, without any mixture of error, we can believe that it is trustworthy. Even 2000 years later.

Is God an ogre? Does God hate me?

Absolutely NOT! God is a patient Father. He is kindness, mercy and justice. God is the complete opposite of hate. He is LOVE.

The only thing God hates is sin itself. Sin is essentially disobeying God. It is often the wrong things we think, say or do. Sometimes, sin may feel good when we are doing it. But it always tries to drag us down and destroy us. Sin separates us from God. It hurts us. It hurts others. And it hurts creation. That's why God hates it.

But more than anything in the world, God wants to be in a right relationship with us. That's why he sent His Son to die on the cross. When we ask for forgiveness, God no longer sees our sin. Jesus breaks the power of sin and the Holy Spirit helps us make right choices. We won't be perfect. But we will always be forgiven and loved.

What does it mean to be saved?

Salvation — or being saved — is a free gift from God. It means that God has forgiven your sins and adopted you into His family forever through faith in Jesus Christ.

Try as we might, we can never make up for our sin with good works or self-improvement. But when we recognize our mistakes and decide that we don't want to live that way anymore, we can ask Jesus to forgive our sins. We can ask him to be our Lord. And He will forgive us and we will be saved forever.

Eternal life begins the moment we ask Jesus by faith to forgive us. And absolutely nothing can take it away — not even our future sins. But being saved also means we want to live like Jesus. That's why we pray and study the bible. We share the good news about Jesus to our friends. We love and forgive people. And, we serve those who are hurting.

Is the Devil real?

The Devil is not a little red guy with horns who sits on your shoulder urging you to sin. But he is definitely real.

The Devil — also known as Lucifer and Satan — is an angelic being who became arrogant in his beauty and status. He decided he should be above throne above God. And that sin of pride cost him his position in Heaven permanently.

Satan is the ruler of this world and he uses temptation, deception and destruction to achieve his purpose. Satan roams the earth seeking to be worshipped while destroying confidence in God. The hatred we see against Christians and Jews is rooted in Satan's lies.

Satan is our adversary, accuser and the source of false beliefs. When Jesus returns, Satan's fate will be  sealed for eternity in a lake of fire.

What happens when I die?

Because we were created in the image of God, we were created to exist forever. We can either be with God or apart from God. And the choice is entirely up to us.

Existing eternally separated from God by sin is Hell. It is a place of eternal pain and suffering. We choose Hell when we reject Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Existing in union with God through forgiveness and salvation is Heaven. It is a place of love and joy. A place where we will worship God and enjoy our loved ones forever. We can only receive the gift of Heaven when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Our salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by any self-effort or good works.
